Tip #52 Use Your Airline Miles
We all know that times are tight, and airlines are cutting back on their programs. Retirement Yenta says, “Don’t count on your miles being there for you! Start using those miles now.” As your dear Yenta has recommended before: you should start living out of your future. Enjoy some of the joys of retirement now (i.e., travel), to help you start visualizing what you want out of your life in retirement. If you don’t have time to travel now, give some of those miles to a charity or a relative who deserves a break!
Tip #21 Join AAA
If you drive, it is important to sign up for AAA’s roadside assistance services. The last thing you want is to be left on the side of the road with a broken down convertible (or other car)! Oy Vey, that could be serious.
Tip #19 Consider a Walk-in Bathtub
When redesigning your home or moving to a retirement home, consider re-doing your bathroom. You may want to consider putting heavy duty ”hold em” bars on your wall of either your bathtub or shower. When I rented my Miami Beach condo to a couple in their 70′s, that was the first thing they asked for! Walk-in bathtubs are a great idea, too! You don’t have to climb over the bathtub wall. These are always advertised in AARP and AAA’s Car and Travel magazines.
