Tip #158: Save Your Soles
Retirement Yenta loves a cute pair of shoes. She especially loves to have her feet in something cute, functional, and fashion forward. In Miami Beach, this little Yenta likes to go to Shoe Freak. She especially likes to go to Sigi, who knows her Miami shoes! Sigi is a masterful sales person who knows how to fit your feet. Now, while they have crazy 6 ” heels, they have great shoes that a Yenta can wear to the beach or on a night out on the town. You can find the Shoe Freak at 610 Collins Ave. in Miami Beach.
Tip #126: Stick To Black & White
Retirement Yenta, upon her arrival at her Miami Beach Oasis, realized something big. The clothes she has there are of two colors: black and white. Your dear Yenta realized how great it was to be able to mix and match her ensembles without much thought. This makes Retirement Yenta smile. Simplicity in life is a good thing. These black and white ensembles are humidity friendly, light weight, and can easily go from beach to shul in a snap, with the addition of the right coverup. Now, your dear Yenta realizes that one might look a bit drab with no color, so she recommends adding a splash of color with a nice lightweight scarf. It’s good for the wind, or those days that have the slightest of chills blowing in from the ocean. Retirement Yenta says: What’s black and white and red aaaaaallll over? The answer is: Retirement Yenta in her black and white ensemble with a nice red scarf (and a bit of a burn from too much sun).
Tip #44 Restore Your Fine Leather Goods
Retirement Yenta recently took one of her Prada handbags (of over 15 years) to be fixed at an amazing NYC leather goods company, Modern Leather Goods Co. Their craftsmanship is beyond reproach and their service is A-1. Don’t be quick to throw out your used fine leather goods ( including luggage). They often can be restored for just a fraction of the cost of the original piece.

Tip #30 Treat Yourself to a New Passport Cover
Retirement Yenta knows that once retirement arrives, you will be ready to do some traveling. There are places that we have all wanted to go all our lives, and now is the time to go. Retirement Yenta thinks it is always good to have a quality passport cover. It protects the passport, and feels good in your hands as you are waiting to go through those long customs’ lines.
Retirement Yenta recommends the Densworth Leather Passport Case in pumpkin from Links of London. Not only does she own one of these; she has found it to be a GREAT holiday gift. Good leather passport covers are available in anyone’s price range.
Tip #29 Save Time, Shop Online
Retirement Yenta likes her nice things, but also likes getting a good deal. Recently, the Yenta discovered a few great upscale auction sites: ideeli, Gilt, and Beyond the Rack. These are all members only. You can request to join or be put on their waiting lists. The wait is worth it, because you can get luxury brand items at up to 70% off retail prices.
Tip 9: Buy Your Retirement Handbag
Take the time to pick out an expensive, sustainable handbag before retirement. Something along the lines of a high end messenger bag that has lots of pockets for organizational purposes. This bag will come in handy when you travel as well. Make sure to get something that has a guarantee. I like the new messenger bag from Prada. It’s classic, simple, and water resistant. I recommend getting it in black.
