When I speak to people about their transition into retirement, they always ask me “should I rent a storage unit while downsizing or moving to a new location?” The Retirement Yenta says “no way, Jose!” You’re going to wind up paying at least $100 a month for a storage unit–who needs that? More important, you’re going to go back to the storage unit to empty it out, and you’ll wonder why you paid so much money to store stuff you don’t need or want. REMEMBER–less is more in retirement. Anytime, actually. You only want to keep those things that you cherish and/or honor.
