Retirement Yenta believes retirees need to avoid renting and buying homes with stairs inside. She also knows stairs are a good form of exercise, but she knows all to well the problems that can come with constantly having to climb stairs in an advanced age. So, dear Readers, RY wants to recommend you get yourself in peak performance shape. That’s right, dear Readers, get out there, climb some stairs, walk, jog, run, do some Pilates and yoga–get yourself in shape NOW so you have better control of your core and fine motor skills in your older age. The better shape you are in, the better your balance, and the better your balance, the less likely you will be to fall and break a hip. Retirement Yenta also knows that working out will help you stay in shape and keep off the pounds. Dear Readers, do you know what extra pounds can do to a set of knees? Even though we get old and squeaky as we age, we don’t want to add to the aches and pains. So, make a date with getting in shape. Take care of your knees and heart so you don’t become a fat, old fart.
There are days, dear Readers, that Retirement Yenta simply needs a day to stay in bed and eat bonbons. Retirement Yenta had such a day yesterday. Let me tell you, little missys and misters…what a day it was. There was your dear Yenta, exhausted from a tough week of work, her feet were up, her tv was on, the shades were closed, and there was a stack of bonbons by her side. Retirement Yenta knows that one cannot do this weekly, but on occasion, it is good for the soul. Retirement Yenta gives you this advice: Relax and pamper yourself, your body and mind will appreciate it. (Note to self: see Tip #166: Say No to a Sluggish System.)
WARNING: Do not do this on a regular basis, or you will be the size of a house!
