Oy…the heat! Retirement Yenta is melting like a wet, wicked witch from the Wizard of Oz! This week topped 90 degrees in NYC–hotter than Tampa, FL! With this in mind, your dear Yenta has been looking for ways to stay cool–ways other than sitting in front of her air conditioner with a wine spritzer in hand…especially, when the outdoors calls. Wine spritzers have wayyyy too many calories (and your little Yenta wants to stay, well…LITTLE). Plus, let’s not speak of the number the wine spritzer will do on your head and your liver. Well, dear Readers, Retirement Yenta has picked up a trick from her Goy Boy Assistant and she wants to share it. RY’s GBA (Retirement Yenta’s Goy Boy Assistant) has a little pug that can’t take the heat, and in order to keep her trim and slim, AND COOL. RY’s GBA gives the little pooch an ice cube treat. No calories…and very refreshing. This got your dear Yenta to thinking of the snow cones she would have as a treat back in the days of her youthful Yentaness in the Wilds of Connecticut. She much preferred the ice shavings to the flavorings. Soooo, why not make a smoothie of ice…and if you want a little flavor, add a dash of your favorite fruit juice? JUST A DASH! Fruit juice has calories too…so not too much. Retirement Yenta says: Ice cube treats are the best. No calories involved and you get refreshed! Blend some ice with a dash of fruit, and you’ll have a snow cone in which to put your snoot.
