Retirement Yenta loves a good book. She loves books that are paper, she loves books that are on her iPad, she loves them in audio form, but most of all dear Readers, she loves a live reading of a good book! Recently, your dear Yenta attended a reading by Amos Oz from his book A Tale of Love and Darkness and it was a night she won’t soon forget, dear Readers! Another favorite of this little Yenta is David Sedaris. He is currently on tour all around the US. Check out his tour dates here. Your dear Yenta promises that his stories will keep you giggling all the way home. If you are in Miami Beach, consider grabbing a last minute ticket to his show on November 1st. He will be reading from his book Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk. While your dear Yenta is on the topic of readings and book recommendations, she also would like to recommend to her fellow Upper West Siders a great series at Symphony Space called Selected Shorts. This is a series that presents short stories read by actors. If you can’t make it to NYC, RY would like you to know you can listen for free through the Selected Shorts podcast, available from iTunes.
Retirement Yenta says Go to a live reading, or simply read read read…it’s good for your brain and will give your soul some feed. (Oy, you can take a Yenta off the chicken farm…but you can’t take the chicken farm out of the Yenta!)
