Retirement Yenta’s beloved former GBA (Goy Boy Assistant) has been having a tough time adjusting to life as a graduate student in the Midwest. Both the student life and life in the Midwest do not suit her stylish, hip, crazy-smart GBA. It has been such a tough transition, that GBA has decided to not return to classes in the spring semester. He has been down and he has been oh so blue, and your dear Yenta has been counseling her GBA. GBA doesn’t known what to do with his life post-school…he knows it has to be different. So, your dear Yenta gave him this advice, which she believes is also appropriate to the pre-retiree: Just Change! Ok…that’s easier said than done, but this little Yenta believes that when change happens, even if it is not the change you wanted, it can be a change for the better. Sometimes in life’s journey, one has to change planes a time or two before reaching your desired destination. And, while many of us don’t like the waiting around, it gives us time to check our messages, get in touch with our friends and family…and ultimately, we get the reward of the vacation of our dreams…or what have you.
Retirement Yenta says this: Change is good. It clears the mind and the soul for what is to come. Embrace it, and continue searching and you will (eventually) find your bliss…and you might make a friend or two along the way. Nothing is permanent. You can change your change if need be…unless you’re dead.
