Retirement Yenta REFUSES to get old. Now, dear Readers, RY knows that the aging process will continue, even if she uses her super powers of denial. So, with this in mind, your dear Yenta has picked up the practice of Pilates! Pilates is a great way to build flexibility, strength, and endurance while also improving coordination and balance! Those are things that are important when the aging process overtakes our denial. Believe your Yenta, you do not want to be caught off balance and break a hip in the middle of your denial! In NYC, RY strongly commends her personal Pilates instructor, Stephanie Joiner. Check out her blog. If you think Pilates is not for you, dear Reader, you might consider Zumba. It’s a Latin-inspired, dance-fitness program. Nothing will keep you younger than shaking your groove-thang to a Latin beat. It’s a fitness craze that is sweeping the nation (and pre/post-Retirees) off their feet. As a matter of fact, in the spirit of staying young, your dear Yenta may try both. Pilates has been great so far, but Retirement Yenta may need to “Shuffle Down to Buffalo” (or her nearest Zumba joint) to find herself a Latin Dance Paaaarrrrrttttayyyy! Retirement Yenta says: Strengthen your core, exercise, and deny aging a chance to take the zip out of your walk.
