Tip #324: Hire a Property Manager

February 25, 2013 By Robin Murray Leave a Comment

Retirement Yenta loves each of her homes and she cares for them the best way she knows how. Your dear Yenta cannot be in NYC, Miami Beach, and Fire Island every day. It’s physically impossible…even regular visits to check in on her homes are simply not enough. For that reason, this Yenta has a property manager for each of her homes. This way, someone close by can look in on things to be sure all is ok. For instance, hurricane Sandy did a number on the NYC area last fall. RY was happy to have Handy Andy on the books and willing to go check out her Fire Island sanctuary. The island is remote and RY couldn’t get there to see that all was a-ok. Handy Andy took care of that for her. Handy Andy is a wonderful neighbor and friend and RY feels confident in his assessments. For her Miami Beach home, this little Yenta has a part-time tenant taking care of the home. RY doesn’t get down to the world of pink flamingos very often, so it is great to have someone there looking after things. In NYC, RY is swamped with work, kidlets, and life itself, so she has her dear Dalis of Let’s Talk Organization taking care of day-to-day operations. Your Yenta’s home has never run so smoothly. Better yet…you all know how your dear Yenta loves to save a buck…so, when she finds just the right item on sale at West Elm or Pottery Barn, RY will snatch it up and ship it to the appropriate person to place in the appropriate home. No more dragging heavy suitcases and bulky boxes as she goes on vacay. The item will simply be there when your dear Yenta arrives…unpacked and ready for use. It’s so Zen that RY doesn’t even need meditation when she steps into her oasis of a home…no matter where it may be.
