As you know, dear Readers, Papa Yenta Retired to the Sky on July 4th after a 4.5 month battle with cancer. During these 4.5 months of what was practically sitting Shiva, Retirement Yenta began the process of cleaning out PY’s home. It was a long process that went through several days after PY passed. PY was very meticulous about his home, but there were so much stuff that had to be gone through, divided, donated, or even tossed. Plus, it’s not a fun thing to do for those left behind.
Your dear Yenta would like to remind you of an early RY Tip: Tip #69: Pretend You Have “Retired to the Sky”. While this bit of advice didn’t mean as much earlier, RY knows now what great advice it was. Think about those you will leave behind and begin the process of clutter removal. Of course, you should save your treasures and family heirlooms, but why do you want to hold on to that “_______ went to Miami Beach and all I got was this lousy tee-shirt” tee that your relative gave you 20 years ago that you haven’t worn in 19 years???
Once you have gone through your old schmatas and junk, have a family gathering and give away some more stuff. All of a sudden, you will be clutter free and feeling zen (and ready for a new shopping spree).
